Pets – N. E. Skull (Children’s Poetry)

Standard

My mother says she can’t stand cats,
My father can’t stand dogs.
My brother hates the smell of fish,
And Gramps doesn’t like frogs.

My sister’s scared of hamsters
And my cousins don’t like lizards.
My aunt says you can only
Own an owl if you’re a wizard.

It isn’t fair! It’s not my fault!
What am I supposed to do?
When I grow up I’ll pack my bags
And buy myself a zoo.

  1. after reading your poem I feel guilty that I did not allow pets at home. I suffered from allergies and could not have any pets. My children (now grown) have dogs. But I could imagine them both thinking “When I grow up I’ll pack my bags and buy myself a zoo”
